Canvas Seminar 1 (10:30 am-noon)
Getting Started
In this seminar we will focus on a high-level introduction to Canvas. We will begin by taking any questions about the migration from RamCT. We will then do an overview of the Canvas platform, including your profile, course environment, settings, files, and your calendar. We will then move on to course tools, including the syllabus, grade book, assignments, discussions, quizzes, content pages, and modules.
The last half of the seminar will be devoted to a Q & A session and a hands-on workshop where you can work on one of your courses.
Canvas Seminar 2 (noon-1:00 pm)
Open Forum: Pedagogical Uses of Canvas in Music, Dance & Theater
In this open forum we will focus on how to make Canvas a useful pedagogical tool in Music, Dance & Theater. We will do a brief overview of some of the more advanced Canvas tools, including 3rd party tools, that you may want to use to enhance your courses. Then we will open the forum to a discussion of your course tool wish list. If you could have any online course tool that would help you with your classes, what would it be? We will close with an overview of how Canvas allows for the integration of 3rd party tools that your group may want to add to Canvas, and we will review the process for requesting those tools.
Canvas Seminar 3 (1:00 pm – 2:30 pm)
Building Courses and Student Engagement in Canvas
Pre-requisite: Familiarity with Canvas
In this seminar we will pick up with where we left off this morning and start with a review of building learning modules in Canvas. We will go over how to create rich content pages that make use of text, images, and links. We will then focus on how to build more complex student interactions.
The last half of the seminar will be devoted to a Q & A session and a hands-on workshop where you can work on one of your courses.
