The Web Services team has made several improvements to functionality and efficiency within our WordPress infrastructure lately, and one of those will be beneficial to all Site Managers so we thought we would share. Any time we find ourselves repeating tasks over and over we like to take a step back and see if there is a better approach, see if the steps can be automated, or see if each step necessary. In this case, when viewing people directory pages and needing to make updates to several user profiles it can be frustrating to have to go to the WordPress admin, go to Users, find the user, and edit their profile… for each person needing updated. This workflow is inconsistent with the way pages and posts are updated from the front-end where there is an “Edit Post/Page” button in the admin bar. So, in an effort to improve the user experience for Administrators and Site Managers, and increase efficiency, we’ve added similar buttons to the admin bar for viewing and editing user profiles. If you are viewing a user profile (WordPress author) page, and you have the capability to edit that users profile, a “Edit User Profile” button will now be in the admin bar. Likewise, if you are editing a user profile a “View User Profile” button will now be in the admin bar.
This is a very small change, but a few small changes such as these can really save a lot of time. So, if you have any ideas for other areas where we can improve efficiency let us know by submitting a web support request.
