In June and July ACNS is offering a set of three workshops each month: 1) Canvas Overview, 2) Build a Canvas Course, and 3) Assignments and Grade Book.
Canvas Overview, presented by Kevin Nolan, is a 2-hour hands-on workshop that will help instructors get oriented to Canvas. Kevin will discuss the migration from RamCT to Canvas and how to request and view your Canvas course shells. Kevin will also orient you to using Canvas’ settings, set-up checklist, and Help resources.
Build a Course in Canvas, presented by Fran Campana, is a hands-on opportunity to explore how you can organize course content in Canvas. You will learn how to add content to your course and how to use pages and modules to present your content to students. Fran will also orient you to the dynamic syllabus tool and the course home page.
In the Assignments and Grade Book workshop, Nick Leinen will walk you through a workflow for creating assignments, setting up the grade book, grading assignments, and making use of several different instructor feedback options. In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to use SpeedGrader and Rubrics, and you will also learn about the grade book settings and features.
Taking advantage of these workshops will be time well spent. See my Events column for time, location, and links to registration.
